Diane's Love

Diane's Love, oil on canvas, 24X24

I had the best dog in the world. Now a lot of people say that and most of them mean it. But obviously none of them knew who the competition was. She loved in a way and in a depth that merited a very special painting. She loved God and could never understand why she could not go to church. Every Sunday she was ready, and every Sunday I would tell her that I agreed with her but that some people are too narrow minded. So we had a Bible study every day, I can safely say that both of our days were better for it.

So she is no longer with me. But this painting begins to say who she is.

My First Blog

Since this is my first blog, I want to talk about the indifference I see in the community about real, fine art. Most people will buy something called art that looks like something she has seen or somewhere she has been, but she will not buy a piece of work that makes her think, helps her to examine her world and evokes an emotion that she can not quite explain. I think that life is too short for anything boring and that life is about change so that holding on to the familar is not only useless, it sets up an expectation that has no basis in reality. Since I am an artist, you may think that I am using this article to encourage people to buy my art, well that is true. But it is also one of the ills of society.
